Gil started ballroom dancing at the University of Toledo and participated in collegiate competitions shortly thereafter. After graduating from UT with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and enjoying success on the collegiate circuit as an amateur competitor, Gil became a professional instructor, pro-am competitor and studio owner of the former A.P. DanceSport Center of Sylvania , Ohio in 2001. In September of 2003, Gil joined The Ballroom Company team of instructors. Soon he and Nicole Nieves began competing in the Professional American Rhythm Style, dancing the Cha-Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Bolero and Mambo. They enjoyed a great deal of success in multiple competitions as finalists in the Rising Star and Open Professional American Rhythm Events. Later, Gil and TBC owner, Jacquelynn, competed in DanceSport events throughout the country as Professional American 9-Dancers. They danced the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz in the American Smooth division in addition to the 5 dances in the American Rhythm style. Gil and Jacquelynn have placed as finalists in competitions held in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Florida. In early 2009, they became the Michigan Dance Challenge Professional American Rising Star Rhythm Champions. After Jacki’s retirement from Professional competitions, Gil continually strives to better his dancing and teaching skills.
